Free AI text adventure: play in your browser, no account needed

An old hand-drawn map spread on a table by candlelight, with a compass and a travel journal

You want to play a text adventure. Not read about one, not sign up for one, not install anything. Just type what you do and see what happens.

Most AI story sites ask for an account before the first sentence. That is a lot to ask before you know whether you even like it.

Start in one tap

In NovelFarer you pick a world and you are in the story a moment later: the opening scene is ready, with three moves to choose from or room to type your own. Your first five turns need no account and no payment details.

A text adventure with real rules

Classic text adventures had a parser that understood a handful of verbs. Here you can type anything, in your own words, and an AI storyteller writes the next scene in novel prose. Underneath runs a game system, plain code with no AI in it, that keeps count of your health, money, belongings, time and where you are.

  • Risky moves are rolled. You see the number you need and what is at stake, then throw a d20 yourself.
  • Danger ticks. Threats grow as time passes and when you fail; when the clock is full, the consequence stays.
  • The map grows as you explore, and every area is calm, dangerous or deadly.
  • Every story has a goal, so there is always somewhere to go.
