What's new

What we improve in NovelFarer to make playing it even better. The newest is at the top.

No means no, and no dead ends

  • Tell someone to leave you alone and they go. They stop following you and stay out of your way for a while, until you seek them out yourself. Your notifications show it too.
  • Go alone and you really go alone. The story no longer has someone tag along.
  • Turning something down does not count as progress. Say it is none of your business, and the story does not move you a step closer to the goal.
  • Walk to a room you have not been to yet, and you get there.
  • When you cannot leave yet, the story shows what holds you and what you could do about it.
  • New stories get stuck less often. The danger coming for you is no longer the very thing you have to wait for to move on.
  • Your first move is ready at once: tap a suggestion and you are playing.

Inside and outside

  • A closed door now truly keeps people apart. You can hear whoever is behind it, and they can answer you. But nobody walks through until the door opens.
  • You stay where you are. The story no longer puts you on the other side of a door on its own.
  • Walk up to a locked door and it stays shut. Forcing it, or talking someone into opening it, still works, with a roll of the die.

Who is with you

  • Travel companions: ask someone to come along, and they travel with you, also to other places on the map. One companion travels with you at a time, until you part ways.
  • “Stay here” works: whoever you ask to stay, stays put and does not suddenly turn up beside you again.
  • Only the people in the same room as you take part in the scene. The rest of the place is nearby, and no longer follows you from room to room on its own.
  • When a door opens in the story, it is open in the game too. And it stays the way the story left it.

Into your story faster

  • Pick a ready-made world and you are in the story at once. The opening is ready and waiting.
  • The front page has three stories ready to start right away, and shows how a turn plays out.
  • Every world has a page of its own.

Better on your phone

  • NovelFarer loads faster on your phone.
  • Start your first story with one tap, and the opening stays easy to read on a small screen.
  • Bigger buttons for your thumb, and a how-to for putting NovelFarer on your iPhone as an app.
  • You can play as a guest first, without an account. After that we ask you to make a free one.

Real dice and levels

  • On a risky action you throw the d20 yourself. You see beforehand which number you need and what is at stake.
  • Levels 1 to 10 in every story, earned by real progress. Levels 2, 4 and 6 bring a talent.
  • Every area has a fixed danger level: calm, dangerous or deadly. The world does not level up with you.
  • Achievements across all your stories. You find them on My stories.

NovelFarer is open
